MASTER IN PHYSIOTHERAPY APPLIED TO SPORT (Ma. S.F)

MAIN SUBJECTS,  TOPICS  AND  FACULTY OF THE MASTER The 9th edition of the Executive Master, contributing substantially to the development of Physiotherapy in sports, has become the objective of recognizing the title of Sports Physiotherapist, currently being defined, through the acquisition of the sports FT / PT core competences,  according to the International Federation of Sports Physical Therapy – IFSPT

Specific objectives of the MaSF:

  • Knowing the sciences applied to motor and sports activities
  • Refreshing the knowledge of anatomy – physiology, kinesiology, neurophysiology of movement, biomechanics as applied to sport
  • Acquisition of the ability to apply therapeutic behaviors in the preventive field in sports pathologies
  • Identify the problems of the athlete related to the pathology, in the acute rehabilitative / physiotherapeutic phase, post acute and chronic
  • Use correctly physiotherapy functional assessment and diagnosis procedures, validated software tools, scales, tests and measurements
  • Identify and define the therapeutic objectives for the functional recovery of the athlete
  • Design and implement the basic physiotherapeutic treatment of manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, instrumental etc. and verify its effectiveness
  • Acquisition of the experimental paradigms of physiotherapy, and the ability of clinical expertise for scientific information, developing a research project in the sports field
  • Apprehend and experiment the dynamics of sports settings

Teaching methodology: lectures, theoretical / practical lessons, workshops and exercises, lectures, seminars, small group work, bibliographic research, conducted under the guidance of teachers and tutors, with specific and qualified experience in Sports Physiotherapy, manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, functional bandage, research methodology. Some lessons / exercises will be carried out in the field, to evaluate the sporting gesture and to start the best and integrated rehabilitation strategy with the team. A CFU of lesson is equal to 25 hours of “study” divided as follows: 8-9 hours of lectures, 5-6 hours of exercises in the classroom or in the field, 9-10 hours of individual study

C9 – TRAINING and STAGE

Internship: will be conducted at physiotherapy facilities, sports clubs, teams, etc. (football, basketball, volleyball, rugby, fencing, judo, karate, etc.), through a convention between University of Siena, host organizations, and customized projects.

The training will consist of  cfu 15 ( 150 hours)
